Over time, springs can begin to deteriorate and malfunction from years of wear and tear. Due to the enormous amount of pressure exerted on these springs during the unloading and loading of cargo, they have to be replaced every now and then. Extension springs are responsible for counterbalancing the weight of a dock leveler platform. They work by either compressing (when the dock leveler is being raised) or extending (when the dock leveler is being lowered). This 23½-inch gray spring is designed to support Rite-Hite dock levelers.
